Welcome
Westfield Township, founded in 1817, is a rural, agricultural community that still enjoys the open space and beauty of rolling farm lands and residential properties that offer room for growing families or mini farms. While maintaining our rural character, Westfield Township is served by two major highways I-71 and SR-224/I-76 making it a major transportation hub in northeast Ohio; located 40 minutes south of Cleveland or 30 minutes west of Akron. Westfield Township is in the Cloverleaf School District and the township's “Cloverleaf pride” is abundant.
The area is served by three hospitals; Medina Hospital, Wadsworth/Rittman Hospital, and Lodi Community Hospital, which is also a MedFlight base. Our fire department and E.M.S. services are a joint commitment of the Village of Westfield Center and Westfield Township. This volunteer department, with a full-time fire chief, is well equipped and serves our residents well.
In accordance to the Ohio Revised Code, the residents of Westfield, in 1956, enacted a zoning resolution which has been changed or updated several times since to better serve the needs of the area and protect property owners. The three elected Township Trustees and one Fiscal Officer are empowered to appoint committees, perform services, and administrative duties of the township.
